❤️‍🩹 Healthier hearts

Hey Reader,

A few days ago, while getting some keys made, my heart decided to have a little dance party all on its own. My pulse shot up to 140 BPMs, and not in a smooth, fast-but-steady way. More like a toddler with a drum kit.

I’m fine now, but it was scary for a few minutes.

We took a trip to the pharmacy, answered a few questions (not on any meds, haven’t eaten fish today, no other symptoms), and walked out with magnesium and the name of a cardiologist in case it happened again.

According to Dr. Google, tachycardia (that’s the clinical name for what I experienced) can be caused by a number of things, including: caffeine, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance.

Like any good systems thinker, I got to work making adjustments and looking for signs of improvement.

  • I took the magnesium the pharmacist recommended.
  • I upped my water intake.
  • I drank some Gatorade (for the electrolytes).
  • I eliminated caffeine (mostly).
  • I cut out excessive sugar.

Rik and I joked about “disabling the plugins," which is a common website development technique. Whenever anything breaks on a WordPress site, the first step is always to disable all the plugins. If that fixes the problem, you enable them again one at a time until you identify the troublemaker.

It doesn’t work just in websites or racing hearts either. It works everywhere—and especially in business.

When something isn’t working the way you expect, ask yourself, “What are the possible causes?”

Then systematically eliminate them until you find the culprit.

Too many refund requests? Check your sales pages for a mismatch between what’s offered and what’s delivered.

Too few discovery calls? Check your lead quality—specifically, who’s opting in and what promise brought them to you. Chances are the audience you’re attracting isn’t the right client for your offer.

Not enough leads? Check your visibility efforts. There’s a good chance not enough people know about you and your amazing business. Time to get the word out in a bigger way.

Nearly every problem—big or small—can be solved by taking a step back and asking, “What might have caused this?” That’s what having a systematic business is really about—knowing how to diagnose before you react, so small problems don’t turn into chronic ones.

That’s the work we do inside Six-Figure Systems. We help you identify what’s actually causing the issue, eliminate the scattershot, “just do more” approaches, and take well-reasoned steps to improve what matters.

If you want a business that’s more predictable and easier to grow, come join us.

💡 A New Idea

When you're troubleshooting anything, the first place to start is by eliminating anything that could potentially be the cause. That gives you clean data to work with.

Whatever the issue, disabling the plugins is a good start.
