Everything is hard

Hey [FIRST NAME GOES HERE],

The first podcast episode I ever recorded took four days.

Four. Days.

And not because I was being precious about it. I just didn’t have a system yet. I remember thinking, “If this is what it takes, I’ll never keep up.”

Sound familiar?

My clients often tell me they feel like everything takes longer than it should. They’re not wrong. When you’re doing everything manually, when every task is a brand-new decision, it’s bound to feel slow.

But here’s what I discovered. The more podcasts I recorded, the more efficient I became.

I started building better workflows. Tweaking things. Eliminating steps.

And before long, that same podcast—even after I added YouTube to the mix—took me about three hours, start to finish.

That’s the power of systems.

I didn’t hustle harder or suddenly have more discipline. I just built repeatable workflows that reduced friction and created freedom.

When you’re a solopreneur and you’re wearing all the hats, efficient systems aren’t optional. They’re what keep you from burning out.

But there’s another thing to consider, and this is the thing few people want to hear. You can only master ONE thing at a time.

You can’t start a podcast AND a YouTube channel AND daily emails AND three social platforms AND a summit AND a shopping cart migration.

When you try to build five systems at once, your learning curve exponentially grows. Everything takes longer. Everything feels harder. You end up believing you’re the problem. If you were just more disciplined or focused or smarter or younger or whatever, THEN it would be easy.

Nope. That’s not how it works. There are just too many things competing for your limited bandwidth.

We see mentors and coaches and others who are doing all of those things and think that means we should be keeping up. But what it actually means is they’ve spent years perfecting the systems that make that output possible.

Expecting yourself to match that on day one is setting yourself up for failure.

So let me ask you this—and be honest with yourself:

What’s one task you wish was easier or faster?

Just one.

Give yourself permission to set everything else aside for a week—or even a month—while you build the system that makes that task effortless.

It might feel like you’re slowing down, but the opposite is actually true. Taking the time to build efficient, effective systems is the fastest way to grow your business.
