Every big, overwhelming, brain-breaking, stress-making project is just a collection of small projects.
And small projects can be easily completed.
Let’s break it down.
Picture this: You’ve decided to start a YouTube channel. You’ve chosen a channel name, created your header graphic, and written a description. Now you set aside 3 hours to “work on YouTube.” But what does that mean, exactly?
Simply saying, “I’m going to record a YouTube video” might trigger that overwhelmed, deer-in-the-headlights response. There’s a large gap between no video and published video. It’s too big of a leap, and when you think about it, you just want to take a nap.
But if you look at that published video as a series of compact, distinct projects you can easily finish, it feels more manageable.
- Brainstorm titles
- Create a thumbnail
- Choose keywords
- Draft talking points
Having all of the pieces separated out into doable projects makes the whole thing much less overwhelming.
You can apply this to anything.
Even launching a business becomes less frustrating when you break it down into smaller pieces: identify your audience, commit to a content platform, publish consistently, begin building a list, solve a problem your community has.
And it’s not just projects. This is exactly how I think about systems, too—every system is nothing more than a collection of small, repeatable actions strung together.
This is a core element of my coaching programs—helping my clients find the smaller, manageable elements that make up a huge, overwhelming project. If you could use that kind of support as you build your business, here are two ways we can work together:
- Private, 1:1 coaching. I have two spots available. Book a call and let’s see if we’re a good fit to work together. No high-pressure sales, just you and me talking about your business goals and how I can help you achieve them. This is for you if you want personalized help deciding what to work on and in what order—with real-time feedback.
- Six-Figure Systems. This is every system your online business relies on, broken down into manageable steps, specifically for solopreneurs. You’ll learn how to publish content to grow your audience, build an email list, create products for sale, and market with confidence. Choose this option if you want proven frameworks you can apply again and again to every part of your business.
Whether you choose to work with me or not, I hope you’ll keep this in mind whenever you’re feeling overwhelmed: Every project is just a bunch of smaller projects strung together. Tackle one at a time, and eventually the big project will be done.
